Twitter As A Service
Besides being a social-network, Twitter is an interest-network: it has proven to be a great example of mobilizing voice and interaction more candidly.
Recently, Twitter launched a COVID-19 data-set of tweets for approved developers and researchers. This can be great for aggregating interesting data points for researchers. You can access polls, tweets and other statistics surrounding the pandemic. Jack Dorsey has always looked at our Zeitgeist with a unique eye, from Square empowering small businesses, to giving his Square equity to UBI and funding Open-Source Decentralized standards. So It is a good exercise to look at TWTR stocks, currently at 31 USD in its penultimate growth.
LinkedIn Network With Twitter Design
Raven is a side-project that I’m building to reimagine LinkedIn as Twitter. It was inspired by the Japanese website Qiita (は) — a knowledge sharing community for programming. In early 2019 I was using the Japanese website, and I was fascinated about how dynamic their interactions where. In the Occident, if you have any question you Google, if it is more technical , you StackOverflow. Qiita seems to increase the viability , as community is non-static.
Rich Text: Twitter does not support rich text or markdown. This means you can not share math formatted formulas, markdown or LaTex.
Teams: It is not easy to create teams. This feature would be helpful for collaborative microblogging or open-ended discussions.
Raven is looking at how we can improve these unique features, the purpose is to study how the UI and UX could increase affordance of interest graphs.
A Blueprint for a digital society
The next generation of Social Networks seems to be focused on accreditation, pseudonymity, subscriptions and self-sovereign identities.
Jaron Lanier and Glen Wyel published a compelling research from Microsoft titled “A Blueprint of Society”. In this research they argue that data has dignity, and users own that property, instead of the data owning their choices. There’s a natural inclination for services to use ad-based revenue, which has proven harmful in a lot of ways — the blueprint is a solution to this problem. They introduced MIDs (Mediators of Individual Data) union-like organizations that would negotiate payment on behalf of users for small tasks that furnish high-quality data.
Flock unlocks the power of your Twitter network, built by cultural technology pioneer Aaron . Flock is a CRM and suite of tools for creators, influencers, brands, and marketers to get the most out of their Twitter pages. From first impressions, Flock seems to be using the API to let users see job changes, find investors, see who unfollowed, set reminders, and more.
Be On Deck
Where top tech talent goes to explore what's next.
The interesting thing about interest networks is that they emerge within network ecosystems, Redd Hoffman of LinkedIn is an expert on Network Effects, and Blitzscaling. I will not go into how the philosophy of LinkedIn has made it almost stoic enough to be held at arms-length. However, I will give examples of how this space is being deciphered by other players, for example by specialists of Radical Markets and Networks like Erik Torenberg .
Although decentralized networks are important, pseudonymous networks births true trustless networks, aside — we still don’t know Satoshi, but still BUIDL. Balaji is a proponent of this motion.
This series will likely continue according to progress in this area.
